For the past 4 years, a little odd red and black bird, a Painted Redstart, had been making its winter home on one specific tree in Bonelli Park in Pomona. Every winter I'd smile big as I read the rare bird alerts posts, "The Painted Redstart is Back." One year my family and I went there and had the pleasure of seeing the little fellow. To date he remains the only Painted Redstart I've ever seen in my life. (He normally lives in Arizona and Mexico.) This winter he's missing, presumably dead. But you remain very much alive in my memories of you, and if there is a heaven I'm sure you're there. Thank you Painted Redstart, for what you've given me and my family. :)
